Garlic

Garlic Garlic has been shown to lower blood serum cholesterol levels.  Based on a typical study of diets that were high in fat: the diets that included garlic consistently produced the lowest cholesterol levels.  Further, data has shown that regular garlic ingestion could have dramatic beneficial effects on the course of heart disease due to atherosclerosis. 

In a test conducted on both rabbits and humans who were given garlic, it was shown that there was a rapid and prolonged decrease in blood pressure.  This was attributed to the presence of methyl allyl trisulfide in Garlic, which helps to expand vessel walls.
