Heart Disease (Dis-ease)

Please read my disclaimer before proceeding!

There are many different types of heart disease, including blocked arteries, blood clots, constriction of blood vessels, angina, heart murmur, arrhythmia and mitral lesions.  Following are four herbs that may be used to help promote heart health.

Hawthorn Berry:  In clinical experimentation, it has been found that Hawthorn Berry functions by peripheral vasodilation; i.e., by dilating the blood vessels away from the heart, thereby lowering the blood pressure and reducing the burden placed on the heart.  Further, Hawthorn Berry was found to include the property for the destruction of experimentally-induced blockade of anaerobic glycolysis, a condition that typifies some forms of heart disease caused by enzyme insufficiency, a quickening of the heart beat in patients with chronic cardiac insufficiency, and an increase in cardiac output and efficiency with an increase in heart rate and pulse amplitude.

Motherwort:  One of the recognized uses for Motherwort is as a cardiac tonic due to the glycoside content.  Motherwort has been shown to be hypotensive, sedative and antispasmodic.  Motherwort calms palpitations and normalizes heart function in general.

Rosemary:  Possesses valuable aromatic essential oils that calm and sooth irritated nerves and extinguishes strenuous anxiety.  Rosemary is also very high in minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium that are required by nerves and cardiac muscle for proper function.

Cayenne:  Contains important nutrients for the health of the circulatory system, such as alpha-tocopherols, vitamin C, minerals and other nutrients.
